After first attempting to move to Amsterdam in 2018, I ran out of money and realized that moving overseas wasn’t so easy.

When I began researching how to move abroad, I expected the process to be straightforward. Instead, I found myself piecing together information from dozens of sources, trying to determine what was accurate and what wasn’t.

It wasn’t just about understanding the visa. It was about knowing:

• Which steps actually mattered
• Which mistakes could delay or jeopardize the process
• Which professionals were legitimate and worth trusting

After successfully navigating the process myself, I realized how valuable clear, experience-based guidance could be. This inspired me to create a website dedicated to helping Americans move to the Netherlands using the Dutch American Friendship Treaty (DAFT) — the visa I ultimately used myself to successfully move to Amsterdam on my second attempt.

Overseasy was created to provide exactly that kind of guidance.

Since then, my focus has expanded beyond the Netherlands. Today I help Americans figure out whether leaving the U.S. is actually realistic for them — and what their options are, wherever in the world they’re considering. The destination matters less than having a clear picture of your situation first.
